Alison "Tippin" Tippins holds a B.A. in English and Theatre from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina, and has worked extensively since 2013 as an actor, assistant director, production/office/stage manager, props master, and all-around general theatre geek. She holds special places in her heart for socially relevant, original, and experimental works and has been fortunate to find incredible, like-minded theatre families at Different Strokes! Performing Arts Collective, The Magnetic Theatre, and Anam Cara Theatre Company.
Ultimately, however, Tippin's love of theatre is rooted in and blossomed out of her love of performance poetry. She has been a fan of Poetry Alive! since her high school creative writing teacher invited the company to work with his students through a residency in South Florida over twenty years ago. It was there that she originally discovered the power and challenge of migrating words from the brain to the page to the stage, and where she came to appreciate the music and magic of different voices, experiences, and perspectives, as well as our fundamental human commonalities. Having taken the scenic route to finally joining Poetry Alive! herself, Tippin is thrilled to head out on this leg of her journey to spread the joy of poetry, and she hopes to inspire other poets, actors, and dreamers to see the world through different eyes and revel in its incomparable beauty.
"I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."
~ Robert Frost, "The Road Not Taken"
