My hometown is Grenada, Misissippi. I graduated from The University of Mississippi with a B.F.A. in theatre. This is my third season with Poetry Alive! The thing I love most about working for Poetry Alive! is the mission. I love that we perform poetry in such a unique way that students as well as adults see that it is fun as well as heart-touching and meaningful. It's a wonderful feeling when students come to you after the show and say that they didn't like poetry at first but now they do. I look forward to bringing more poetry to life during Poetry Alive!'s 25th season.
Some of my favorite poems are "Still I Rise" by Maya Angelou and "My People" by Langston Hughes. One of my favorite quotes is "Laissez le bon temps roule." ( "Let the good times roll" in French.) No matter what comes your way you have to make the most of it and find ways to make life fun. Things I love to do are reading books, dancing, and karaoke. One of the most quirky things about me is my really funny and loud laugh. It's one of those laughs that either you love it or you hate it. It's just part of my quirky personality.
I have so many aspirations in my life, but the biggest one is to always be performing.
