Nadine Delano initially stems out of New Bedford, Massachusetts and New York City; but now lives with her husband Ken in Asheville, NC.
Originally a dancer, Nadine has been performing with Poetry Alive! for 13 years. She received her degree in Marine Biology though SUNY Farmingdale in Long Island, NY and the Southeastern Massachusetts University.
She decided to take up poetry performance after she attended a poetry slam and realized she could deliver poems as good if not better than many of the artists. Nadine’s favorite part of Poetry Alive! is when the audience inspires her to phrase a line just slightly different during a performance and she gets new insight into a poem by revealing another way of thinking. She also loves when student participants on stage cause her to laugh so hard she almost forgets the lines of the poem!
As a dancer performing poetry, Nadine recognizes that if dance is poetry in motion – than poetry is the choreography of the word.
Her favorite poem from this season is On Turning Ten by Billy Collins.
